Who REALLY Nailed It at the AMAs (and who totally didn’t!)
I don’t know why everyone is up in arms about Taylor Swift and JT taking a photo together or whatever. Not only could I not care any less about that craziness but I can’t be mad at Taylor for anything right now. She just looked so amazing at last night’s American Music Awards and was one of my fave looks of the evening. Keep reading for deets on who else looked gorge and who creeped me out altogether.
Tay-Tay was just so adorable when she broke out onto the music scene and she has really come into her own lately, going from adorable to feminine, mature and classy. Plus, she has finally ditched that curly hairstyle she wore everywhere with those signature red lips. Don’t get me wrong — I did like her look but it was always the same. Last night, she really looked amazing. While gold dresses seem to be here AMA dress colour of choice (last year, too!), she looked perfect from her outfit to her hair and makeup. I love this messy hairstyle of hers. It’s on trend and so imperfect that it’s perfect! I am also loving her barely-there pink lip colour and the earth-toned smoky eye. I absolutely love earth tones and I’d really like to see more people try smoky eyes that are NOT black and grey. Overall, Swifty just aced it.
Naya Rivera was another stunner last night. Her Michael Kors dress was definitely revealing but still classy and very chic. I really like that she opted for an exaggerated blow out (voluminous hair will never be out of style for me). She looked very glamorous. But what really made her look work for me was that nothing was overdone. To complement the jaw-dropping gown, she opted for neutral makeup like sculpted cheeks rather than bright cheeks, neutral lips, and subtle eye makeup with emphasis on the lashes. Even her manicure was soft, understated and neutral. She looked amazing and just like Taylor Swift, she managed to look sexy without looking trashy (which seems to be in in Hollywood these days for some reason!).
I love when I see celebrities walk the red carpet flaunting their best assets without showing up practically nude and setting the example that more skin is better. It’s not. It’s tacky! When it comes to fashion and beauty, I always prefer to go the classy route. You can still be sexy without going all Miley Cyrus (someone please make her stop!).
And while there are more than a few looks from last night’s awards show that were not BB411-approved, Ke$ha‘s was by far the creepiest. Not that we can expect anything more from her, but her eerily unhappy face was not flattered by that multi-coloured hair of hers. It’s just wrong. I don’t even think I need to say more. It’s just a shame that her ultra-gorgeous brows were hidden by her cotton candy hair.
