Celebrity Look: Get Allison Williams’ Glowing Complexion

Guest blogger: Jennifer Braun

The Golden Globes were over a week ago, but I’m still lusting over Girls star, Allison Williams’ glowing complexion. So I had to give my go-to Sephora gal a call to find out how to recreate this look. Not to my surprise, Naila Karkour, Sephora Colour Consultant, was just as excited about this beauty look as I was.

“The classic smoky eye and nude lip – she really couldn’t go wrong with that,” Karkour says. Read on for this beauty pro’s step-by-step guide to recreating this red carpet-ready beauty look.

Step 1 – Skin Prep

According to Karkour, the best way to prep your skin for a flawless complexion is hydration. One of her fave products for a guaranteed radiant complexion is facial oil. “People tend to be scared of oils”, Karkour says. But she swears by this skin prep trick to achieve lustrous skin. She recommends Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil. Of course, always choose a light oil that is designed for your particular skin type and always apply it sparingly.

Step 2 – Foundation

Once your skin is prepped, you can apply foundation. To get the same beaming complexion as Allison Williams, Karkour recommends using a liquid foundation instead of a cream or powder, which can make your skin look matte. Her suggestion is Yves Saint Laurent Teint Touche Éclat Illuminating Foundation.

Next, you will want to set your foundation to ensure it lasts the entire day or night. Our beauty pro is a huge fan of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.

Step 3 – Blush

No glowing complexion is complete without a touch of blush. Allison Williams went for a natural, pink/orange coloured blush similar to Bobbi Brown in Tawny.

Step 4 – Eyes

To complement her natural, glowing complexion, Williams went for a subtle smoky eye. You can get the same look with these: Urban Decay’s Zephyr Natural Pearl Shimmer (to be applied all over the lid), and a normal matte dark grey eye shadow like Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream in Anthracite. Karkour says the pigmentation in both of these eye shadows is amazing so a little goes a long way.

And just to be sure that shadow doesn’t budge all night, apply a touch of primer first, like Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in Neutral, one of Sephora’s best-selling primers. To finish off your smoky eye, apply liner to the top and bottom of your eye, and finish off with a volumizing mascara.

Step 5 – Lips

To complete this red carpet look, Karkour recommends Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Velupté Shine in Pink and Confident. She loves this lipstick because it’s sheer and ultra-hydrating.

Will you be recreating Williams’ glowing complexion and soft smoky eyes?
