Eden Tropical: The Summer 2014 Lise Watier Collection

Spring has been here for weeks but it didn’t really feel like it until a couple of days ago. I found it difficult to get into the mood for spring but as the weather warmed and a package of Lise Watier‘s new summer 2014 collection arrived on my doorstep, I found it much easier to get into the spring mindset. Read on to see the Eden Tropical Collection for Summer 2014 up-close and get the scoop on my favourites.

I love it when I see a Canadian brand (especially a local one like Lise Watier) come out with such amazing products. This season, the Eden Tropical collection will get you feeling flirty and beautiful in no time. I’ll start with the most coveted item of any summer collection: the bronzer. Limited Edition Eden Tropical Bronzing Powder ($38) is made up of a soft, shimmering peach, and a golden brown bronzer. You can apply the peach colour as blush or combine the two for a fresh, bronzed look.

For the eyeshadow aficionados, like myself, Limited Edition Eden Tropical Eyeshadow Palette ($43) is a must-have. I love that this palette combines the essential earth tones with some much-needed spring brights. And all the shades are shimmering so it’s even more perfect!

My signature look involves thick, dark, cat eye liner that must be extra black and won’t fade. I was very impressed with the Limited Edition 24 Hours Gel Liner ($25). It’s perfect for the sexy cat eye look and the colour will not budge all day, or all night. I used to do powder liner but it just kept fading and it was so frustrating. Gel liners are my liners of choice and this one is amazing. I personally prefer gel liners applied with a brush to pencil liners. The impact and is more dramatic and they’re much easier to apply. Plus, you can screw up the application ten times and still find way to save the look in the end.

If shimmer is your go-to look for summer, then you will LOVE Ombre Soufflé Suprème ($24), available in four different shades. This is a very silky, moist shimmer that looks great alone, or over another shade. It can dramatically change your look and take it from day to night in ten seconds flat by simply applying it to the inner corner of the eye or over the entire lid. I received it in a copper shade, which is great because earth tones are my style. But it also comes in green, purple and brown. Just remember that with this product, a little goes a very long way.

Next up is the Limited Edition Satin Blush Crème ($25). Cream blush is my favourite because it lasts far longer than powder alone. Sometimes, I even dust a touch of powder blush on top of cream blush to make sure it really holds. The texture of this one (as you can see in the photo) is really very creamy and soft. This product is best applied with your two fingertips, so no need to fumble around with makeup brushes you can’t use.

One of my favourite products of this entire collection is the Limited Edition Hydra Kiss Colour Balm ($22). Lise Watier offers these in nearly every collection and they are amazing. They’re soft, precise, easy to apply and they really keep the lips hydrated. I love this soft pink shade and I can’t stop applying it because it feels so buttery soft. This is the perfect cross between a gloss and a lipstick. It’s subtle, gorgeous and easy to pack with you.

But before applying any of the above-mentioned makeup, I do have to recommend the Age Prevention Supreme Matifying Crème-Gel ($69, launches at the end of April)). While we have been waiting for summer’s heat through a loooong winter, that heat can also be our worst enemy, causing oily skin. Oily skin is makeup’s arch-nemesis. To ensure matte skin that will allow your makeup to hold all day long, I’d suggest you give this product a try. Plus, it’s anti-aging and sorry to scare you but unless you’re 15, you need to start preventing wrinkles today!
