So Long, Sucka

Oh happy day, oh happy day.....

Remember the neighbor's tree that I only ever barely mentioned for fear of launching into a cussing spree? Ding dong, the witch is dead, the wicked witch, the wicked witch, ding dong the wicked witch is deeeeeead.

I will not go into the details of its existence, or its demise, but I shall show you where it lived and how it died. It was a peaceful death. If you call being hacked to pieces with a chainsaw peaceful.

Now, in general, I'm not a fan of taking out trees if it isn't necessary. I worried for weeks over critter homes I'd be destroying. Thankfully, there was only one bird and one squirrel nest found. But this sucker had to go. It was the biggest, nastiest, mess for twelve months out of the year. We hadn't used our patio in two years because of the aphid infestation every summer. Sickening. And the amount of needles I swept up on a weekly basis for the last, however many years, could fill the grand canyon. I'm still finding them in the house from being tracked in. Aggggghhhhh - I hated that $%@!&*^ thing.

These pictures aren't fantastic - it was raining when I remembered to run out with my camera - but you'll get the idea.

Had it been planted 20 feet in the other direction, it would have been great.
Five feet from the property line, notsomuch.
So here's where we're at now.

There was a wee bit of a casualty with our fence, but it'll be an easy fix.

That, my friends, was a big ass tree. And although the view didn't improve much from a standing position, ahem, when I'm sitting on the patio or deck, this is what I see now.

Ahhhhh. Can you hear my sigh of relief to not have to deal with that thing ever again?
We took it out two weekends ago and I've already got my patio set up like the good old days.
Yeehaw!
