Say Yes to the Summer Dress: How to Wear Them in Fall and Winter

As summer draws to a close and fall arrives, you glance mournfully at your spring and summer dresses and prepare to say goodbye to them for the next six months. But wait — don’t be so hasty!

Sure, it’s a bit too chilly now to wear them with a pair of sandals and a sunhat, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still bring them out to play. There are plenty of ways you can wear your spring and summer dresses in the fall and winter, without freezing to death. If you get creative with layering and accessorizing, you can wear your pretty dresses all year round.

Below are five different ways to wear your favorite summer dresses during the colder months:

1. Invest in Some Good Leggings

Sometimes tights or stockings just aren’t warm enough when you’re wearing a skirt or dress. Instead, get yourself a good pair of leggings to keep your legs toasty.

The great thing about leggings is that you can hide long underwear underneath them. No one will ever know! You can also wear leggings over tights for extra warmth, and wear some long boots to keep the chill away from your calves.

2. Long Boots

Speaking of boots, they’re great for keeping your legs warm if you can’t resist wearing a dress. If both your boots and dress are long enough, you can avoid having any leg showing for extra warmth.

Or just let your knees get cold if they don’t meet in the middle. If you don’t want to wear warm tights or leggings, long boots are essential for warmth.

3. Cardigans and Jackets

When you’re wearing a cute little summer dress, a short cardigan or jacket can make it even cuter. Visit Tuchuzy for online dresses and grab yourself a jacket at the same time.

Remember that the beginning of fall is the best time to shop in the sale section for summer clothes. And why should you wait until next year to wear them? If your dress or skirt is a little short, pair it with a longer jacket or coat for a bit more coverage and warmth (and to look great too, of course).

4. Maxi Skirts

Not a fan of covering your legs when you’re wearing a skirt or dress? Maxi skirts and dresses will keep you warmer by covering up more. If you’re wearing a long skirt you might be able to get away with nothing else on your legs, or some sheer pantyhose. It depends on how cold it is!

5. Long Socks

Knee-high or thigh-high socks can be super cute with a shorter skirt. You probably want to avoid looking too “naughty school girl”, but that’s not hard to do as long as you’re careful with the rest of your outfit. You may or may not want to show the tops of your socks, but try to avoid wearing them with a skirt that’s too short.

So don’t put your summer dresses away for fall and winter. Use the colder weather as a chance to play with your summer clothes and make new outfits.
