WWII: Vintage Granville Street Photographs

Today is a day for remembering…

This is my grandfather and my Dad.

I love this photograph – I always have.

Do you remember the candid photographs taken on Granville Street in Vancouver? This photo is one of ‘them’. I’m so grateful for this commercial offering, because if it didn’t exist then this photograph would not exist now. And as the grand-daughter of a veteran I would never have had this glimpse into a moment from that time.

Here my grandfather was returning home from WWII. He was stationed in Holland during the War, and to see him in uniform and my Dad so young forces me to reflect.

Today is a day I never forget. Today is a day I honour with pride. Today is the day… L’est we forget.
