Going Away Party Take 1: Photo Post

Many of you know that my best friend and roommate will be moving to Canada next month. I know, I know, he's been talking about it for years but it's actually happening now. He's been accepted to grad school in Alberta, he quit his teaching job, and already obtained his student visa. This is happening. I've already begun the process of switching a lot of the bills over to my name and I'm going to start paying full rent next month, plus I got a loan and I'm buying his car. BIG changes. But I'm super in love with the photo of us.

This past weekend Josh's Mom threw him a going away party this weekend-it was a lot of fun! It was a big BBQ/sleepover and there were a few of us that spent the night and then stayed around for Breakfast the next day. There were also a few who came back for breakfast. I played photographer.

The evening for me started out at Kristina & Ken's house. Josh was headed to his mom's house early and dropped me off on the way up so I could run errands with Kristi and we were going to make pasta salad. I also was able to spend some quality time with baby Kat and got a few cute photos.

Then we all drove up together. We were late (of course...) but immediately joined in the fun of eating good food, drinking good beer, and chasing the kids around. Her yard is fantastic, so it was a great place to hang out and chit chat-either around the tables or out by the fire.

As the evening went on we made our way inside. There was a little Band Hero playing, but mostly we drank and played Max's new copy of Hamster Rolle. It was quite a bit of fun! Ortie broke out her wine she bought at a castle in France last summer. It was tasty and had so many spices-it tasted like Christmas! Even though we were drinking it ghetto style in our plastic cups-it was delicious.

The sleeping arrangements were hilarious. Ken and Kristina took the big spare room with the two older kids in sleeping bags on the floor to each side of the bed. The baby was in her playpen in the other spare room, and I slept on the little bed that was in that room. Josh and Ortie slept in a tent on the lawn, Max passed out in a chair outside, and Paul curled up on the living room floor. Suffice it to say we were all still pretty tired a few hours later when it was time to get up for breakfast.

But there was still enough energy for playing. The girls tore apart the playroom, Kaden played golf in the yard by himself and then with all the toys his sister hadn't let him have the night before, the baby ran around getting attention from anyone, and Band Hero was brought out once more.

And then it was time for a few goodbyes. Little Davie just adored Josh, and she loved chasing him around all day and telling him to sit by her and play with her.

Everyone is going to miss him like crazy, but we've scheduled a lot more goings on over the next few weeks to get ample time with him. The weekend after next we'll be going on our annual camping/tubing trip, and the weekend after that we're throwing another going away party at my place. Wow, my place. Big changes!
