Fiber Camp is just a week away!

March 14-16, 2014
I am so excited to be a member of this guild. We have so many events coming up, one of which is just a week away. Fiber Camp is a weekend event that starts Friday evening in the Stata Art Center at MIT. It will be a weekend of classes, community and knitting. Oh, and there's a fashion show!

Knitter and designer, Julia Farwell-Clay will be speaking about Cowichan knitting. Her Takoma sweater was inspired by this traditional knitting which originated in British Columbia.

Julia will also be teaching a number of interesting classes on Saturday which include, Combination/Continental knitting, Stranded Fair Isle, and the Terrors of Intarsia. She has also rounded up a bevy of designer friends and she is bringing them to Fiber Camp with items to be displayed in a fashion show. There will be popular designs and newly released patterns presented by the likes of Thea Colman, aka BabyCocktails, Bristol Ivy, Amy Christoffers and more.

Fiber Camp on Saturday and Sunday takes place in the Tang Building, also on the MIT campus. The two days are filled with small, informal classes taught by Guild members and others. There will be a marketplace of vendors, a swap table for crafting supplies like yarn, books, and other tools and there will be door prizes. The Tang Building has a number of comfortable lounges for knitting, socializing and general hanging out between classes.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online here or at the door. There is free parking right next door to the Tang.

I want to tempt you with news of upcoming speakers too.
