Luminaria 2014

BACK y’all. And ready to catch up and recap our last month of adventures!

Let’s rewind back a few weeks. The first rainy weekend in August marks Scituate’s Heritage Days, and it kicks off Friday evening with Luminaria… picture the floating lanterns in Tangled… only ours are dollar-store candles stuck in old milk jugs and don’t fly. But man are they beautiful!

So many of my childhood summer memories revolve around lighting the luminaries along the rocks and jetty that circle the harbor. Now it’s so fun to bring BF back with me and skip along the rocks, watching them light up at dusk.

As silly as it sounds, I was always under STRICT surveillance as a kid when it came to footwear for walking along the harbor’s rock footpaths. Tennis shoes or bust, yo– flip flops were an accident waiting to happen in Mama’s eyes!

Though I’m bias–it’s a hometown tradition close to my heart–if you ever find yourself in Scituate the first Friday in August, I do recommend stopping by to see for yourself.
