Azede Jean Pierre A/W 2014 NYFW

“The coolest thing is when you don’t care about being cool anymore.” – Rick Owens

All hail this sentiment! Not only has this quote become a bit of a recent mantra for the way I personally approach dressing, it also summed up the ever cool feeling that lingered after the Azede Jean Pierre FW 2014 show at Made fashion week. In a New York zoo pen full of peacocks, this show stood out as the pigeon that casually flew in for some free snacks. There was no pressure, no austerity in the way the clothes were designed – they were merely fantastic pieces that would better many a winter wardrobe for years to come. A casual girl sported a wool tank and shorts underneath an oversized sweater – a beanie perfectly slouched on her head and thick socks unexpectedly visible under brown, flat, strappy sandals. Another girl perhaps on her way to work wore a white satin blazer that, although luxurious in material and quality, was grounded in its simplicity and casual tailoring. The hip designer seemed to focus on a woman who does not need to stand in front of the mirror for two hours every morning torturing herself over what to wear (guilty). Instead, this girl simply doesn’t care that much (how refreshing!). She can grab a long, spaghetti strap wool dress, a sweater, and a hat and be done. Or if she is feeling fun and spontaneous, perhaps the rose gold bomber and matching skirt – one of my favorite looks in the collection. Oh, but she can’t forget her beanie.
