Splurge vs Save: Minimalistic Coats

With it getting colder with each passing day (aren’t we supposed to get snow this week?!), I’ve been hunting down the warmest pieces in my wardrobe and layering, layering, layering. There’s nothing quite like it being subzero outside and realizing that you simply don’t have enough warm sweaters or fleece-lined leggings or sheepskin boots to get you through the season.

One bonus? The cold has left me on the market for a great new coat. While I’m all about a great fur (or faux fur) number, this time, I’m swaying towards a simple, clean silhouette. They’re the easiest to wear, in my opinion, and they have a way of making whatever outfit you’re wearing underneath look undeniably chic. This season has seen the re-introduction of basic styles and clean tailoring and lines, so there’s tons to work with.
