Although I hauled the Tarte Cheek Stain Collector's Vault a few months back, it's only now making a huge appearance in my everyday makeup routine now that the weather is warming up! In looking for ways to sweat-proof my summer makeup routine, I've been reaching for products with staining qualitites, and Tarte's Cheek Stain have been up to the job. While you definitely don't need the entire 8-piece cheek stain vault to complete your collection, you can get an idea of what each shade brings to the table in the swatches below to know which one you might need in your summer makeup routine.
For those interested in the set, it comes in a comically large canister that looks like a cheek stain that opens up to reveal a hollow cylinder. Once emptied, there are small cardboard hooks that fold down to hang jewelry on, and drawers where smaller pieces like rings can be stored. It's the packaging that keeps on giving!
Upon a deeper look inside at the products, these gel-textured cheek stains come in a push-pop style applicator. Softer shades can be applied directly to the cheeks to achieve quick color intensity, while others might need the use of a stippling brush and soft hand given how pigmented they are. The range contains a mix of textures - from a sheer stain to something that has a little more shimmer - but all apply smoothly and without smudging liquid or cream foundations. Those who prefer powder foundations might try using a stippling brush to ensure base layers stay put during application. The shades included in the Tarte Cheek Stain Line are:

Flush and True Love look very similar when swatched and warn, however Flush is slightly cooler - something to note for those that tend to prefer cool over warm shades. Tipsy is so sheer, it borders on acting as a highlighter over a blush - something for those with medium to deep skin tones to keep in mind if they are expecting hard-hitting color payoff. Beyond these shades, the quality is consistently good among this group of stains - you really can't go wrong! At $30 a piece, they aren't the most affordable blush available. But with .5 oz. of product full of goof-for-you ingredients (like Tarte's infamous maracuja oil), you get a ton of nourishing blush to work with, and their staining quality means no reapplications!
