Inspiring Interiors – Rose Uniacke’s London Pad

Rose Uniacke is a celebrated London-based interior designer – her style is eclectic but beautiful, understated but at the same time has a complete wow-factor to it. A few years ago (maybe 3 or 4 actually!) I was fortunate enough – through work – to visit the site she was working on in London that she now calls home.

The house was completely renovated and refurbished in her own elegant design style. The house was built in 1861 by James Rannie Swinton and covers 14,000 square feet (huge – I know!). To-date this has been her most exciting and personal project; alongside her husband David Heyman (Harry Potter Film Producer) she has create a light and airy work of art. When they bought the property in 2007, it was in a state of disrepair and needed a complete refurbishment. One of Uniacke’s first gestures was to rebuild and install a 12-ton stone cantilevered staircase like the architect Swinton had originally intended. Throughout the palette was kept simple and pale with unfinished floors – juxtaposed against a modern-style kitchen and a lava stone indoor pool. This juxtaposition has created a beautiful balance between the historic property and it’s ability to work as the perfect home for modern-day living.

Just beautiful! What do you think?
