Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Fortune and Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille
The last couple of staples on my vanity these days include two items I picked up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Dior's Addict Extreme Lipstick in Fortune, a rosy nude shade and the Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille, a shimmery pink. I didn't get any other cosmetic items from this year's anniversary. Mostly it was a lack of interest in the offerings but also partly because I blew most of my budget on other things that I thought presented a better value. Beauty products don't usually get discounted. They may offer special sizes or bundles that would save you a little in the long run but if it's an exclusive shade you're looking for, it's going to be sold at regular retail.
I showed you the two lip glosses I had on rotation previously. Guerlain's Bubble Gum Maxi Shine Gloss and the Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in Friandise. Both are brighter than the Dior items I picked up. My Dior selection was meant for fall but they're both variations of the neutral lip and they're unstoppable when paired together. The Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Fortune has to be someone's perfect nude shade. I initially dismissed it as being too brown for my taste but with a little experimentation, I discovered that it's the pigmentation that threw me off. I needed to put on a little bit less as it can get pretty opaque. And if I wanted the effect to have more dimension, the hints of mauve and tactile shimmer in the Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille complements the shade beautifully.
Both lipstick and gloss are non-drying on my lips and they apply evenly. The lipstick doesn't have a pointy tip to the bullet (it's flat like lipbalm but slightly angled) so if you want to be more precise with application, you may want to use a lip brush. The gloss has a brush applicator.
The Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Fortune and Addict Gloss in Merveille has become a go-to combination as of late. This is the lip pairing that I think will transition well into fall for me. I realize now that I should have written this post sooner because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale just ended but if interested, I'm sure these shades will pop up elsewhere in time. They are now unavailable online but you could try a Dior counter at your favorite Nordstrom and see if they still have any in stock or if they can find you a close match.
