To Your Health: Summertime Smoothies

I really can’t complain when it comes to my kids eating their fruits and veggies, but placing raw kale on their dinner plate can get a little old. Smoothies are a fun way to trick, I mean encourage your kids to consume raw, healthy, whole foods. I was sure to stock up on lots of produce yesterday while showing Lucas how to gently place fruit in a bag to avoid bruises Too bad our smoothie kick seems to fizzle out during the winter months, however, it is important to keep your immune system in tip top shape with the aid of raw veggies (especially garlic). Aside from a mild cold, the kids and I were not sick all winter long. In Parker’s 20 months of life, she has yet to get sick. I’ll chock that up to the fact that she still wants breast milk, ha.

I hope you enjoy this fun smoothie recipe (below)!

Pineapple Banana with Flax Seed Smoothie

1 cup of pineapple chunks

1/2 cup of plain yogurt

1 banana (frozen or room temp)

2 tbs ground flax seed (optional, but high in omega-3)

1 tbs honey

ice

If the photo above is any indication that your kids will enjoy this smoothie, Parker finished hers in 1 minute flat.
