Hydrating Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Have you ever tried this? One of my favorite ways to get some extra life, hydration and silkiness into my hair is to do "coconut oil treatments". Especially once the cool season starts coming around and my skin and hair start doing their normal "dry and cracking" crap, I whip this stuff out.

So what I do is lather up my dry hair with coconut oil the same you would with conditioner. If you are new to using coconut oil, it will come out of the jar in clumps but VERY quickly begins to melt in your hands or when rubbed between your fingers. So grab a little clump, allow it to melt and begin massaging into the ends of your hair and all over. I don't put too much near my scalp as that are is pretty well hydrated on it's own. I also choose to use unrefined organic coconut oil to get the best results possible. Once you feel an overall coverage through your hair, you can pull your hair back into a bun or braid to hold all the oil in instead of dripping on your clothes. I usually do this before I would normall shower and keep the oil in for a few hours while I'm working on the computer or doing something that doesn't require a lot of movement. Then I wash my hair out like normal and enjoy silky smooth strands. It's a winter must-have.
