Moments with Birgit by Kristine Vikse SS15
Kristine Vikse er norsk motes moder jord. Hun bruker trykk med elementer fra naturen - som nordlys, blomstrende trær fra Hardanger, solnedgang i Lofoten og øde fjell på Svalbard. Designeren og Polhem PR inviterte til vernissage med kolleksjonen #Moments - Birgit by Kristine Vikse SS15 tirsdag 12. august under Oslo Trend-moteuka. Instagram er et viktig inspirasjonsverktøy for designeren. Nærmere 80 snapshots var limt på døren til utstillingslokalet i Oslo Trend-hovedkvarteret i Norde gate 20 på Grünerløkka.
Kristine Vikse har rebrandet seg med nytt navn til ære for sin farmor, Birgit. Hun var en kvinne forut sin tid og skapte karriere fra 1946 og inn i 50-tallet med søm og egen klesbutikk i Haugesund. Mormoren hennes var også sydame, men Kristine sier at hun likner mer på Birgit. Signaturen i designerens nye logo er hentet fra et gammelt brev Birgit skrev til Kristines farfar om hvordan det gikk i butikken. Nå, over et halv århundre senere, fører barnebarnet arven videre.

Kristine Vikse is the Mother Earth of Norwegian fashion. She uses prints with elements from the nature - like northern lights, trees in bloom from Hardanger, sunset in Lofoten and desolate mountains at Svalbard. The designer and Polhem PR invited to a vernissage with the launch of the collection #Moments - Birgit by Kristine Vikse SS15 on Tuesday 12th of August during Oslo Trend fashion week. Instagram is an important inspirational tool for the designer. Almost 80 snapshots were displayed on the door at the Oslo Trend headquarters in Nordre gate 20 at Grünerløkka in Oslo.
Kristine Vikse has rebranded herself with a new name in honor of her grandmother, Birgit. She was a lady with ambitions at a time when most women stayed home with their children. Birgit made a career from 1946 and into the 50s with dressmaking and her own clothing store in Haugesund. Both her grandparents were dressmakers, but Kristine says she shares more similarities with Birgit. The signature in the designer's new logo is copied from an old letter Birgit wrote to Kristine's grandfather about how things went in the store. Now, over half a century later, her granddaughter continues the legacy.
