Moodboard | Colors of Fall |

How was everyone's Halloween? Luckily the rain cooperated, yet again, and gave us clear skies long enough for Halloween trick or treating. Everyone was pretty happy with their costumes and my awkward family photos creepy-kids-costumes theme worked out pretty well for M L's (you can see them here, here. Fisher's is here - he was a hobo after his first choice of Stalin was immediately vetoed). After the kids were in bed and all the doors and windows locked I settled in and watched Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time in (yikes!) 30 years. When I was little my mom had a movie night on Halloween - this was way back when you could rent a VHS player from the video store - and her picks were The Exorcist and Nightmare on Elm Street. She fell asleep after a few minutes and I was left with freddy to watch all on my own. I was too afraid to move to even get off the couch to turn it off and I believe it was likely the first time I ever pulled an all-nighter. I honestly don't think I have ever been more afraid than I was after that double-feature. I have avoided watching Nightmare on Elm Street since, but I decided to face my fears, and you know, the premise is still scary but I slept just fine this time around.
I've been dragging a bit into this fall. I figured that with as long as the sun stayed with us this year the transition would feel rather abrupt and that has proven to be true. My mind seems to still be dependent on the sun to get me going. But. Now that November is here (and we've quickly lost 60 minutes of daylight with the clocks moved backwards over the weekend) I need to accept the fact that the dark and rain are here to stay for awhile. I am trying to embrace the moody palette of autumn to motivate my creative side. As this slumber of fall will soon give way to the busy holiday season.
