Dzia: Bzzz Wall

At the Stedelijk Humaniora Dilsen-Stokkem, Dzia was asked to transform a wall earlier this month. The wall was transformed indeed, into a dynamic composition of colourful bugs with an abstract etnic feel to it!

The wall itself is not big, but very crucial: it’s visible from the street, a passing point for all the students in between and after classes, and an essential component of the space where students and teachers take their daily breaks. Once the schoolbell rings, Dzia observed the location being defined by moving groups of students, like a swarm of ants or other bugs. Bzzzz!

In his recognisable and organical grown style, Dzia constantly searches for new elements to develop a new artistic language again and again. Here, the bugs are combined with more abstract etnic elements to create diversity, and bright colours. Also the artist works with the phenomenon called “pareidolia“: Who can spot the tribal mask-faces?
