A Gorgeous Livable Library

This is the first time this has happened to me. When I set aside this room on my Pinterest boards, knowing that I wanted to share it for a ditto, I was shocked to source it and find that it was basically a catalog spread from the design resource shop, Horchow. Usually, I can spot the difference between a home image and an image from an advertisement, but this room was designed so beautifully and thoughtfully, and storied, that I truly could not tell. But, fun for us!! Because it is from an ad, that means the room is totally shop-able. In other words, we really actually CAN ditto this room. Wild.

Today’s Ditto post features a space that is both gorgeous and livable… and so ditto-able. For starters, I would just love to curl up on that sofa. And from there, the list goes on.

{Ditto posts demonstrate a great exercise for you as you continue to develop your own personal style: using your own favorite pictures, and making a quick list of what you actually love about the space. If you study what you love about a space, it helps you to bring what you LOVE into your own home!}

Enjoy this beautiful library space, and the quick “ditto” list of why I love it.

So. Do you love it?:

WHAT I LOVE {What I would ditto!}:

1. Those amazing bookshelves! You might recall when we painted our own library bookshelves blue. I LOVE this top to bottom navy treatment on the shelves.

2. Amazingly styled bookcases {See my top, simple tips for styling a bookcase}. And yes, that means BOOKS!

3. That stinking amazing and wonderful dreamy lovely awesome coffee table. Yum. Lucite Gold = YES!

4. Once again, I am featuring a room that places a bookshelf directly behind a sofa. It is just that good of an idea.

5. That sectional is wonderful. I love the pale linen against the deep blue shelves. I love the tufting. I love the comfy scale. I would simply like to curl in with a book, thank you very much.

6. Those GORGEOUS sconces. I am in love with the simple, square shape – and in gold, no less. I could not find the source. So, if anybody knows….

7. A huge bouquet of flowers, in monochromatic, that brightens the room and adds a punch of pretty, contrasting color. A hands-down fave of mine. Ditto!!!

8. Art hung on the bookshelves. I am a fan. I love how it creates a layered, rich look.

9. A CHANDY! In a library! I just LOVE that. Goodbye stuffy library. Hello shell chandelier. Let’s keep things light, shall we?

10. The reason why I truly adore this room? The contrasts, of course. My favorite design technique. Contrasts truly do make the space.
