I Tried This Physiogel Hypoallergenic Cream & Cleanser and Then ...

One day at a park, I was handed with this professional sample of a new product being introduced in the local market. The name appeared so "clinical" and medically correct. LOL. It's been a looong time and I can't even recall exactly when I got this ... I'm just posting my review now hehe.

It was a cleanser and cream pack from a new brand called Physiogel Hypoallergenic from Stiefel. Having sensitive skin, I don't really try out a lot of brands for my face. I usually develop redness / rashes / pimples right away. But this one, well, I tried ... it seemed good enough and oh-so-medical as it sounded hehe.

It claimed to be "hypoallergenic" so I said, hmm, must try ...

As per the product claim, Physiogel repairs skin and locks in moisture for up to 3 days. The pack comes with a mini brochure filled with information about their product line and other offerings. This promise however, has a reference / footer note that says "conventional moisturizes with synthetic emulsifiers."

I tried this for about a week or so - I has given 2 sets so that's four (4) packs of 3ML each cleanser & cream. Each set lasted me 3-4 days; the cream having lasted more since ... well, I don't really use much of it as my face becomes oily. Click after the cut to find out more ...

Physiogel Hypoallergenic Cleanser is said to be soap free, non-comedogenic, and meant to be for sensitive skin and all skin types. It aims to cleans, soothe, and soften without drying the skin, while maintaining its natural PH balance as per the pack. It appears to have a non-greasy formula as it's seen here, and does not contain animal fats, providing a gentle cleanser that is suitable for all skin types; as claimed.

Physiogel Hypoallergenic Cleanser
Applied in circular motion!

It has a smooth opaque texture and has a low-foam formula, that seems to be like water. It does promise to cleanse thoroughly with, or without water. It can be used for face and body. To use, just apply a liberal amount and massage gently in circular motion. I have put this to the test hohoh~ I tried with and without water ...

But I actually preferred it with water. Without water, I felt icky and it seemed to have this residue on my face so I rather stick with the conventional. The without water formula is meant to be for "delicate skin" and after application, you need to to use at least a soft tissue or cotton wool to remove excess. Looking at it on my face here, you can see that it appears a bit oily with the cleanser on so I'm not really sure how it should stay without water nor rinsing.

My verdict? Rinse with water. It said to have the gentleness next to water but I hardly felt that way. It still seemed like there's a "facial cleanser" applied on my face. Either I'm really just not used to leave-on cleansers or what ... but well, that's how I felt about the product. After rinsing, my face actually felt cleaned and all cool anyway. It does gently cleanse without drying.

Me with the Cleanser - after rinsing
My face still felt smooth and cool after cleansing. No dryness indeed. I give it a thumbs up for that then. I think the Cleanser is a pretty good product. It is targeted for those with Dry, Dehydrated, and Sensitive Skin as well as it states in the inside-packet (not the sachet sample). It also adds more information about dry skin, which I think is a good read for users like me. I mean, I don't like to read lengthy product information and long brochures hehe. But this one is simple, straight to the point, and pretty concise. What does it say? Lemme quote ...
Dry, sensitive skin is often clue to a damaged skin barrier, which allows moisture to escape from skin. Conventional moisturizers help to relieve dryness but only temporarily since they just coat the outer layer of the skin and get washed away when you rinse or wash. For long lasting relief, you need to repair the skin barrier first.

It sounds pretty cool huh? And this product promises to be that product to repaid the said barrier. So after cleansing, you have to put the "cream" to continuously lock in the moisture.

The Physiogel Hypoallergenic Cream has natural lipids similar to the skin's physiological lipids to protect and restore healthy skin - as stated on the sachet. It's non-comedogenic as well. It contains no colourants, no perfume, no preservatives. True enough, that's what the product looks like. Actually, both cleanser and cream has no smell at all - one sign that it's hypoallergenic, I guess.

Physiogel Hypoallergenic Cream
At the back of the pack, the said "physiological lipids" referred to are the lipids in a Derma Membrane Structure (DMS), which I probably wouldn't care at all researching anymore haha! But simply put, that's the structure similar to the skin; hence after using the product, it is said to revitalize the skin. It is intended for daily care of dry and sensitive skin conditions.

To use, apply a thin film only; once or twice daily. If necessary, it can be used more often. It is also safe to use for both face and body. So for me, I dabbed a few dots / small amounts on my face. Enormous amounts leave my face oily so this will do ... I was really a bit hesitant since I always have this apprehension about moisturizers (and not all of them were good on my face hehe). The product is targeted for those with Red, Dehydrated, and Sensitive Skin - an added information in the leaflet (not on the sachet).

So to complete the "promise" of the product set - use the cream. Unfortunately, after about 4 days of trying it; my face developed redness / rashes to almost having pimples. I still tried it for a few days but stopped using it after a week. Maybe it's not-too-hypoallergenic at all as I may have had allergies from it. Too bad though, the product seems promising enough ...

The product also claims to be clinically proven to repaid that skin barrier. It is formulated to resemble the natural building blocks of the skin, and should be able to repair and rehydrate dry, sensitive skin. Clinically proven as well to lock in that moisture up to 3 days (for daily use on localised areas of the whole body) even without washing.

Probably, if not because of that little allergic reaction that resulted from my use, it would've been perfect even for me since I have somehow dry but more sensitive skin. However, it didn't turn out that way. Oh well, maybe for others it would have better results.

The product I tried is a free sample I got so I have no pricing information. Also, do take note that my usage lasted only for about a week. My review is just a result of my own personal use. (^_^)
