Earlier this month my daughter celebrated her 7th birthday. SEVEN?! How on earth did that happen, eh? Seven years ago this little whirling dervish crashed into our lives and changed them completely and utterly. After believing for the longest time that I would never want kids, she turned me into a Mum, and, despite a slightly rocky start, I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier. My girl is bright, creative, enthusiatic, strong willed, and such fun to have around. Most of the time at least Now that she is 7 we are starting to enjoy some Mummy and daughter activities together, such as our special Saturday and Sunday nights where we sit together and watch Strictly Come Dancing. She is now in Year 2 at school, still really enjoying it, still doing well, and still very happy. I feel very blessed.
We had a fairly quiet family day for her birthday, as this year she is having a joint birthday party with her best friend at school which is booked for mid-November. She has said all along that she is happy to wait until then for her presents from her friends, so she just had family presents on the day. The geekdaddy and I may have gone a teensy tiny bit over the top in Toys R Us to compensate for that…
Anyway, for the last two years I’ve marked her birthday by asking her the same set of questions, and I’m enjoying tracking how her answers change over the years. So here, for the third time, are my daughter’s answers to those questions.
I am happy when… I go to Alton Towers
I am sad when… I’m alone
I get cross when… Mummy does something I don’t like
I feel worried when… I can’t get to sleep
I don’t like… Mummy saying no
Best of all I like… My birthday
My favourite food is… Lasagne
My favourite songs, rhymes and stories are… “Naughty” from Matilda, the Harry Potter stories
My favourite game is… Hungry Hippos
My favourite toy is… Barbie
My favourite television programme is… Strictly Come Dancing
When I’m at home I like to… draw
My pets are… A cat called Elliott
So there you go. That’s how my seven year old sees things
