My Must Have Products of 2013

The Ghetto Fashionista

I am self professed product junkie;between hair, makeup and beauty products I just can’t seem to get enough. A trip to Target for a few household “necessities” can easily turn into an hour spent checking out the health and beauty aisle.

My love of products also frequently finds me browsing amazon.com and sephora for high end beauty products. Quite honestly, I have even been known to buy beauty products at the dollar store-hint- they often have L’oreal, ELF and other products that have been discontinued.

Here’s a list of some of my beauty must have items from 2013:

Benefit They’re Real Mascara-I have not left the house without wearing some form of make up on since I was 15… Trust me I’m not “beat” every single day in spite of the fact that I’m a makeup artist; however, they’re are 3 fundamental items I always wear- mascara, powder and lip gloss. Benefits They’re Real offers both length and volume and whenever I wear it people inevitably ask if I’m wearing lashes. Though the price point is a bit steep ($23.00) it’s a worthy investment.

Revlon Color Stay foundation… I am an alum of MAC. I worked for the brand part time as an artist so I am well versed in the range product offerings. Revlon Color stay is a dead ringer for MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I typically wear studio fix fluid in 50c and the Revlon Color Stay is almost a perfect match. The product offers great coverage, is highly build-able and it works well on my skin that tends to be a bit on the oily side.

Revlon Color stay retails for $10.00

Ruby Woo- you’re never fully dressed without a smile and I would submit that if you want your smile to be haute couture add a bit of Ruby Woo by MAC. I will readily admit this lippie is not for the faint of heart. With its vibrant blue-red matte finish this lipstick can be a bit dry; however, once you find your groove with it there’s no turning back.

Clarisonic- I’ve had my Clarisonic brush for quite some time and trust me when I tell you it’s a must have for any beauty girls arsenal. I clearly notice a difference in my skin when I’ve gone a few days without using it. Widely used by dermatologists and estheticians alike the brush cleanses, exfoliates, removes makeup and prevents acne.

I am a naturalista and like most women with natural hair I spent a significant amount of time looking for the magic potion that would give my natural locks definition minus “the crunch”. Although I am a fan of the entire ORS range of products, the ORS Curl Refresher does an amazing job of providing definition with both wash and go’s and twist-outs with out the heavy build up and residue of some products.

Curl refresher can be found at Target and retails for $12.99

Sally Hansen Salon EffectsI love the look of designer nails yet I rarely have the time to spend making a trip to the salon to get my nails done- enter Sally Hansen Salon Effect Nails; with a wide range of designs from leopard to shimmering pink the nail effects are so easy to apply you can put them on while watching television. The greatest advantage of nail effects? Instant drying so you can apply and go.

Marks Plum Berry 3-in-1 cleanser- whenever I step out wearing Marks plum berry cleanser someone inevitably asks me what I’m wearing and the looks I get when I tell them Mark ( an Avon product) are nothing short of hilarious. I tend to layer my fragrances so after using the cleanser, I follow up with the body butter and too it all off with the body spray. The fragrance is long lasting without the disgustingly sweet smell of some fruit scented fragrances.
Plum berry retails for $8.00 visit www.avon.com to purchase.
