Garlic Knots Recipe

This time of year, I love baking. Especially rolls and bread sticks. There's nothing better than a fresh hot roll with your dinner. At our house we like a lot of Italian foods like spaghetti, shrimp linguine, lasagna and ravioli. And we always have some kind of roll or bread stick as a side. This is one of my favorites. These garlic knots are soft and chewy. The butter topping is so flavorful and tasty.

They freeze well, so if you have leftovers then just pop them in the freezer and pull them out the next time you need a quick side to your meal.

Garlic Knots Recipe

1 1/2 c. warm water
1 T. honey
2 1/4 t. yeast
2 T. olive oil
3 1/2 - 4 1/2 c. bread flour
1 t. sea salt

Garlic Butter Topping
2 T. butter or margarine
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t. italian seasoning
1/4 t. garlic powder
2-3 T. parmesan cheese {the kind from a jar}

Mix together warm water, honey and yeast. Let stand 5 minutes. Combine oil, flour and salt with the yeast mixture. Knead 5 minutes. {I use my kitchenaid} Cover and let rise until double - about an hour.

Divide dough into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a bread stick, then form it into a knot. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes.

While rolls are baking, combine garlic butter topping ingredients into a saucepan. Melt butter over medium heat. Brush topping onto rolls with a pastry brush. Bake a 2-3 more minutes until golden brown.
