Yardley Jade EDT

Yardley are an interesting brand as they have quite a heritage behind them which unfortunately comes attached with a bit of a stuffy reputation, not helped by the brand’s association with single, floral fragrances (such as lavender) which has resulted in the brand being known as an old-fashioned, grandparent-friendly range. However, over the past few years they’ve been releasing products and redesigns to shake off that reputation and it appears to be working.

Jade EDT is the latest Yardley release which is inspired by the 60’s and is a Chypre floral fragrance. It has a fairly comprehensive composition with fruity top notes of peach and bergamot alongside galbanum. The heart notes are mostly floral with jasmine, rose, ylang ylang and orris root, whilst the base notes are mostly woody notes of moss, sandalwood and patchouli.

One of the great things about Yardley is that even though their fragrances are extremely purse-friendly, they don’t smell cheap and Jade is a good example of this. Jade is a warm and inviting scent that’s well-suited to the impending wintery weather; it’s strong without being overpowering, and even though there are a lot of floral notes, these are grounded with the woody notes and hints of fruit which stop it turning into a bouquet of flowers. If you’re in the market for a well-priced Chypre then this one from Yardley is a very good choice. It’s usually around the £20 mark but you can currently find it on special for £13.32 here – link.
