Gear Up
When Lexi Graham came around for a speedy test shoot before she headed back up the coast last week, I gave her Look 1 to change into in my room, and she re-emerged looking a little dazed. There’s just so much stuff in there, she said. Usually, I’d be embarrassed. But, I only just moved in, so exploding boxes of clothes and life essentials are fine.
Right?
Cue my brother reminding me that I moved a month ago.
Right.
On Friday, I managed to fall a little under the weather, exacerbated by an hour and a half sweating my internal organs through my nose at Bikram Yoga, and spent most of yesterday writhing around in my pyjamas of discomfort, and finally (finally) going through my messes and arranging and re-arranging new corners of our new home to distract myself from the exceptionally large stack work I could have been doing, but for my incapacitated brain.
And so, here is one of those select corners: the kitchen bench most frequently passed on my way out of the house. They say that your last minute grabs are most reflective of your personality.
They being I, and personality being OCD.
In my prolonged leaving routine, this is the most strategic placement for last minute (or ten) moisturising, travel-mugging, cross-body-bagging, hair-styling, lipsticking, and what have become my go-to outfit solution booties since the end of Fashion Week – granted, I’ve been dressing in either glamourised loungewear or nothing at all, so that little bit of of a shiny heel, ankle exposure, and side-hardware is very much a Fall essential in the most veritable of hashtag fashion retailer newsletter senses.
So that’s my long-winded explanation as to why I have heeled booties sitting on my kitchen counter.
And I’m back to playing the catch up game.
