10 Year Wonders

As beauty bloggers, through trying out many different brands and products, not a lot of products stick around for the long run. We love them at the time but it doesn't take long for a new shiny product to take over and our beloved products get cast aside. Thankfully there are plenty of exceptions to this rule and some products even stick around for longer than 10 years, when we first discovered them in our teens and never looked back. Here's a few products which have stood the test of time.

If you've been following our blog for a while you'll know how much we rave about the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I used to be all about the Stay Matte range when I first began wearing makeup and I can still remember the texture of the foundation. As someone with oily skin, I've tried many a powder but nothing quite compared to Rimmel Stay Matte in terms of shine control. It's one of those products you stock up on during 3 for 2 and I probably have around 10 of them sitting in my beauty stash and various bags.

Growing up, we had a pretty regular Avon representative and I always loved flicking through the pages, convincing my mum that yes, I do need a sparkly eyeliner at 8 years of age. I still have quite a few Avon products but the ones that I rate the most are the Avon Nailwear Pro Nail Polishes. They apply beautifully with an opaque finish and the shade range always has something that catches my eye. I feel like they don't get enough credit in the beauty world but they're just as good as the high end options.

I went through a little emo, gothic stage when I was younger, thinking I was as cool as Avril Lavigne and the black eyeliner was always within reach. I remember having a sleepover and my friend used the Barry M Kohl Pencil so I decided to pick it up and it hasn't left my collection since. It's an inexpensive, creamy kohl pencil which applies so gently on the waterline where I used to wear it. The product hasn't changed at all in the past 10 years but I did welcome the waterproof version with open arms. Wonderful eyeliner.

When you're an acne ridden teen, the first place everyone goes is The Body Shop. While the tea tree oil didn't stick around for too long, the wonderful Body Shop Coconut Body Butter has been repurchased many times over the years. I'm not too fond of eating coconut, but the scent is wonderful. Sadly every time I pick one up, the tub never gets fully used but I'm making a conscious effort to keep my skin moisturised and I will use one up one day!

The first high end makeup purchase is always a memorable one but I'm just glad I chose well with my pocket money and the Clinique Mascara never let me down. The first one I picked up was Long Pretty Lashes which is sadly no longer around but Clinique's High Impact is a wonderful alternative and one I can't live without in my beauty stash. If you love long separated lashes, look no further.

It's amazing that products can stick around for that long and they do bring back some great memories. Even if they do remind me that it's been 10 years since I first started high school, eek! I'd love to know which products you've re-purchased over the years and what your 10 year wonders are.
