10 Favorites: Huarache Sandals

It’s time to add another summer shoe trend to the list. This time it’s the traditional Mexican sandal—the huarache (pronounced wah-rah-che). Now, let me tell you my experience with these sandals. As a kid, we would often take trips across the border into Tijuana and down to Rosarito Beach. My dad would buy us huaraches and most of the time they were super cheap, made from really sturdy leather, and comfortable (after breaking them in). We didn’t think they were the greatest looking sandals out there (see them here), but we bought them anyways. Now, they’re a hot summer trend.

Isn’t it funny when something from your childhood comes back as a trend? I’m actually more of a fan of today’s huarache sandals. They look way better and come in a variety of styles, like wedges and heels. In fact, I bought my own pair of flats from Dolce Vita last summer (see them here). I love them and have finally broken in the leather, making them really comfortable and a must-wear this summer. I just might have to buy a few more pairs.

That’s why I put together a “10 Favorites” post of my personal favorites. Which of these huarache sandals do you love?
