Runway Review: Carolina Herrera Spring 2015

As one astonishing oeuvre followed another on the runway at Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2015 presentation, it was quite clear why the fashion darling maintains at the top of her game, 34 years later.

In a genuine ode to Spring, Herrera chose a color palette of citrus hues, soft yellows, tea stained creams, bright neons and rich reds. Her signature, overstated, deconstructed gowns featured pixilated, digital floral prints inscribed on the fabric. The effect was truly astonishing. Using this technique, Herrera not only keeps up with the times, but sets a new standard in architectural pattern emblazonment.

From floor length gowns to capacious jersey tops paired with illustrious palazzo pants, the collection is filled with inspiring Oscar options. Perhaps the standout is a merlot color, full-length mermaid dress with Chelsea square collar and tulle bottom inserts. Paired with a dark vamp lip, it is a surprising, yet deliciously fashion-forward choice for a Spring fete.
