Fall 2013 London Fashion Week: Daks

- By Sarah-Leigh Wade -

Daks presented a forward looking collection for a/w 13 at London Fashion Week, kicking off Saturday’s schedule to the beat of Billy Idol’s White Wedding. Taking an androgynous 1970s Charlotte Rampling as muse this season, soft tailoring and nonchalant cropped shapes were a focal point throughout. In amongst a typically autumnal palette, deep purple and raspberry served as accents, while metallics, plaid and tapestry florals added carefully considered decoration to a line that typically has simplicity at its core. -
Short tunics were paired with fluid trousers and flirtatious panels cut-away from the sides of jumpsuits. Elsewhere, the brand’s quintessentially British style informed an argyle print, precise pleated skirts, capes and sleeveless trenches. -
At the design helm, Sheila McKain-Waid paid homage to the house check of course, but cleverly working it in alongside graphic designer Ashley Havinden’s new-style logo, used as a recurring emblem. - -
