Boredom always seems to spur my creativity. Which explains why I've been feeling rather creative this winter break. With two weeks off from my internship and almost 6 weeks off from school, I've been letting these uneventful days in Jersey get the best of me. I guess this hiatus from my responsibilities is a good thing. With all this free time what else is a girl to do besides shop, sleep, and eat? Between Black Friday and holiday shopping, I've collected a nice collection of clothes, shoes, and accessories for my winter wardrobe. I've also absorbed a great deal of inspiration from some great Netflix fashion documentaries, but I'll get into that another time.
Black and white is the color of the season. These two colors, though rather repetitive during this time of year, have done something different to women's wardrobes recently. Prints have changed the dynamic of black and white turning basics into statement making pieces. Houndstooth, stripes, polka dots, and animal print have all featured a signature black and white color palette. I've always been a fan of mixing prints, and with black and white as the base it's a lot easier to play around with drastically different prints. For this look I mixed my thick knit Houndstooth Zara miniskirt with my banded mesh Sparkle & Fade floral crop top to create an edgy European look. My turtleneck and sheer tights made the look weather appropriate without taking away from the style of the look. The added fur pulled the look together by adding even more texture and much needed volume. The BCBG boots gave me back the height my high waisted skirt cut off. As for the cat hat, well that was just another result of my increasing boredom.
