Chocolate Chip Ragi ,Oats and Whole Wheat Chocolate Cookies-Two tone

Spring is visiting my garden.
Flowers everywhere.
The Sweet peas are climbing as high as they can get and are spreading their wondrous fragrance and the ice flowers are crawling around just looking pretty. Pretty ,I'd say they look beautiful ,like millions of butterflies just sitting pretty.
In the sunshine, they open up to display the amazing colours. When I get back from school,I head to my garden...food and rest be damned, the happiness that these tiny flowers give is awesome.
My heart comes to my mouth...

These cookies are a version of the Ragi Cookies that I made last time. A little bit of chocolate and some of the Toll house chocolate chips that sweet sister brought back from the USA totally altered masked the earthiness of the Ragi cookies. Some one asked me if these cookies were good to eat... My response was the reaction of sweet child, the cookie jar emptied in record time. Suffice to say,he never realised they were healthy.
Totally worth trying...
Your bones will thank you for it. Ragi (Finger Millet)is very rich in calcium and is easily digested.

for the

Chocolate Chip Ragi ,Oats and Whole Wheat Chocolate Cookies...

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp Ragi flour
2 tbsp Oat flour
2 tbsp semolina
2 tbsp custard powder
2 tbsp milk powder(this made the 1/2cup of extras )
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup margarine(remove 2 tbsp and replace with neutral vegetable oil)
1/2 tsp salt
2 pinches baking powder
2 tbsp chocolate chips

Cream the margarine (I used Dalda) with the sugar and the neutral vegetable oil and 2 tsp of water.
Sift the dry stuff (except the cocoa powder) over the creamed Margarine and knead to a dough.

Divide the dough into two halves and mix the cocoa powder and a tsp of water into one half. Shape the dough half and half into a log and wrap in film and chill for 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180C/350 F.
Out of the fridge, slice 1/2 cm thin and place on the cookie sheet.
Press in a few chocolate chips per cookie and pop into the oven for 12-15 minutes.
Check the bottom of the cookie for doneness...
After 5 minutes ,place on a wire rack to cool completely .

Enjoy the crisp, chocolatey cookie with or without your cup of coffee or tea.

Guilt Free pleasure for once.
You can replace the margarine with Desi Ghee or clarified butter if you so choose.
Any which way, a cookie or two will be heavenly.

So what are you baking today???
