Thailand Part 2: Amphawa Market
After our very short visit and delicious Thai breakfast at the Imm Fushion in Bangkok we took a cab to the bus stop and hopped a bus to Amphawa, a small town around 2 1/2 hours away from Bangkok.
There is a floating market here every morning and in the evenings on Friday and Sunday. We planned to stay to see the market open up in the evening but had to catch a 2 1/2 hour bus back to Bangkok and then another 3 hour bus ride up North because we booked a night in a guesthouse outside a national park and had to make it there. So we literally left 1 hour before the floating market happened.
Amphawa was great! It was boiling hot and humid (but I love that kind of weather) so our little coconut drink break was very much appreciated. There are cute little shops, a massage place (great Thai massages are only around $5 in Thailand!…we had one but not this day so more on that later), food vendors, and 4 or 5 floating restaurants.
We found a quaint little Thai restaurant kind of behind the main walking boardwalk along the water and had the most amazing (but incredibly spicy) lunch, with Thai iced tea, sitting on a comfy bench.
After lunch we hurried off to Bangkok as quickly as possible so that we could make it to the national park before midnight.
