Essential Oil Additions

I’ve blogged about my use of essential oils in the past but it has been awhile since I talked about my latest oil arsenal additions. I thought today would be the perfect time to share a bit more about the oils I am using for health and wellness in particular, with cold and flu season knocking on the door.

Last year I relied on Thieves in capsules diluted with olive oil, diluted on my lymph nodes and soles of my feet at the first sign of of a cough or sneeze. When you take into consideration that our son also started daycare last year – germ paradise – Thieves was a lifesaver. I think I got sick maybe once, but I honestly can’t remember much more than that.

This year I’ve already felt the scratchy throat and stuffy nose warnings. After doing some reading and talking to Kelly I decided to add Oregano to my “back the hell up germs” routine. So far, over three separate weeks, I’ve taken two capsules per day with two drops each of Thieves, Oregano and olive oil. Colds have stayed away thus far and I’m confident this will be a killer combo through winter.

Next is Di-Gize. I won’t go into detail about stomach issues but we’re all human and from time to time, stomachs get upset. Di-Gize is one I hope stays full for a long time but when it’s needed, you can add one drop to capsules with olive oil and rub it directly on your stomach area with or without a carrier oil for dilution.

Finally, I’ve taken my Peace & Calming diffuser sleep routine to a whole new level. My mom started using Cedarwood in her diffuser for my dad, who is an essential oil skeptic, and he started sleeping like a rock…a tremendous feat given his stress levels with work during busy tax times. I now joke about my “oil coma,” achieved by diffusing Peace & Calming, Lavender and Cedarwood on my nightstand every night.

Of course it isn’t all about wellness and sleep. My diffuser gets a workout all weekend long with scents I just find to be yummy, like Joy and Citrus Fresh. I’ve also started wearing Abundance as my daily perfume.

I absolutely love using these oils and hope to find time this holiday season to try my hand at an essential oil craft as gifts. There are so many cool instructions for making your own scrubs, soaps, home scents and more.
