{things i did} vintage car show

Last week I said this has been the summer that wasn't, and while what I said remains true–I would have really loved a good heat wave–it also wasn't a wash-out. A whole bunch of "firsts" happened for me and the best part was that none of them were really planned. I've shared a lot of them here: I saw my first concert from floor seating (sixth row center for Pharrell Williams and Bruno Mars at Madison Square Garden), dined in a historic hotel (can't wait do it more often), walked an actual Jersey boardwalk (complete with rides, trinket shopping and a signature treat), went to a non-fashion blogging event (yay kiwis), shot a real gun (just at a target), and stood in two states at once while crossing the Delaware River (New Jersey and Pennsylvania). That's not even mentioning the new foods I've tasted (beef jerky! steak tartare!) and made (blueberry pie! ice cream sandwiches!). The photos above were part of another first–we randomly stumbled upon an antique car show during a day trip to Pennsylvania and had the best time slowly walking through the pristine vehicles while a cover band played some old hits nearby. So with Labor Day on Monday and summer's unofficial end, I'm thinking about how the moments you remember most in your life are not always the things you work hard for or stress over–they're sometimes just opportunities that present themselves and just require you to say yes.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!
