Brand Spotlight: Yon-Ka

Being a skincare fanatic that I am a brand new to myself has come under my radar, Yon-Ka is a French skincare brand first founded in 1954. Yon-Ka as a brand is very passionate about aromatherapy and using natural ingredients, this is very evident in their products, the smell and texture of the products I’ve tried have been relaxing and soothing.

I recently mentioned some of the range in my day and night skincare routines, with Winter well and truly here and zapping all moisture I’ve relied heavily on oils and serums. Yon-Ka have a range called Hydra No1 aimed towards skins showing the first signs of ageing and possibly drier/dehydrated skin types. The Hydra No1 Serum £57/30ml is a long lasting serum, working to boost skin with long lasting hydration plus it contains hyaluronic acid- YES! The formulation is creamy but gel like, great for dehydrated skins like mine. However the one issue which I think some people may have is the aromatherapy scent, I really like this aspect of the product and enjoy the smell of the essential oils when massaging the product into my skin. It adds to the whole experience of using the product, very spa like and relaxing. The essential oils, rose, chamomile and jasmine work well together. The serum is made with 95% natural ingredients, I like to use the Hydra Serum after applying a toner but before moisturiser and tend to use as part of my morning routine.

Second up is the the Hydra No1 Fluid £49 /50ml aimed for normal and oil skin types, I’ve tried this a few times but felt it wasn’t enough for my skin right now but I know for sure this will be perfect for my skin in the Summer when it has a tendency of getting a bit oilier. The fluid also contains hyaluronic acid which is another bonus, hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our skin and it’s what keeps us looking healthy and plump. Sadly as we age hyaluronic acid decreases, so when I see products containing it I can’t help myself. The formulation is light and not greasy, my skin is on the drier side at the moment and tends to absorb it very quickly. If you like a mattifying moisturiser and struggle with your skin looking shiny by midday this product may well be your best friend. The scent is not as strong as the serum but you can still detect the essential oils, it’s paraben free and is made using 89% natural ingredients.

So far I have noticed my skin looking clear, plump and healthy. My foundation doesn’t sit on my skin and lasts longer. Chances are that’s also down to the other products in my routine but all I know is these products have definitely made a positive impact.

Have you tried or heard of Yon-Ka? What is your main skincare concern?
