Another Perth Fashion Festival project I'm involved in is Windows of the City - an initiative that connects artists with stores and venues in the City of Perth to create spring window displays. With over 20 artists from a range of disciplines involved it's well worth doing a bit of window shopping (/actual shopping!) to check out the results! Personal favourites include Monica Morales at Venn Gallery, Jessica Singh at Miss Brown and Ali J at Laura Ashley. There are some fairly hefty prizes to be won by voting for your picks (via QR code on the window vinyls or through the Perth Now website - the process is a little convoluted but for a $5000 voucher I daresay it's worth it), so heels up, go wander around our city.

I collaborated with Alannah Hill in Wesley Quarter, supersizing stylised illustrations with Barbarella hair onto the windows, inspired by their new season lookbook. This is only the second time I've done this technique (painting directly onto the windows, scaling up a pencil drawing), and it wasn't any easier than first go! My natural style is actually quite loose and sketchy so moving into heavy handed paint on a large scale is a bit of a challenge... More practice/research required - if anyone has any tips for making the move into large scale I'd be glad to hear them!
