Wherever I am, whether fleetingly or more permanently, I like to seek out local designers - they capture the fundamental vibe of a place, understanding weather patterns and social systems, persuasions and dress codes. Want to know which weeknight is dress-to-impress, which beach is serious wetsuits only or if Sunday sessions call for thongs or heels? Suss out a local fashion expert.
Perth is admittedly less established in the style stakes than our Eastern States counterparts (though we have our fair share of fashion legends -
Ray Costarella,
Wendy Marshall &
Melanie Greensmith have made well-deserved international marks) but there are plenty of up&comers growing in leaps&bounds. These labels are justifiably drawing attention, and are lovingly supported by locals-only (with a few cheeky Melbourne favourites thrown in - it is our spiritual big sister city, after all) space
HATCH, which has recently located to
enex100 in the Perth CBD.
I'm very happy to join Perthie fashion darlings
Heidy &
Jenelle to share some of my favourite pieces this week - all local, all up to my exacting standards, all fabulous, all available at HATCH.
