Michael Turek: Knoydart

Knoydart by Michael Turek Michael Turek is NY-based photographer who experiences lifo through his eye-camera. On family trips to England he fell in love with putting the world in a rectangle and clicking, and it was his high school photo teacher who helped him decide to become a photographer. The Knoydart project was created in Scotland, in which writer Lisa Abend disconnects from civilization and discovers something much more … civilized. "As for the project itself, this was a feature for Afar magazine, about the Knoydart peninsula in Scotland, and the town of Inverie, which is the the UK's most remote town, accessible only by boat or by hiking two days from where the nearest road ends. As I would be without electrical power for nearly three days, film was the obvious choice, and I knew Kodak Portra would express the mood of the landscape. My assignment was to hike in, following the steps of the writer Lisa Abend who had visited a few month's before. " Words: Michael Turek, Thisispaper Photography: Michael Turek
