aust&amelung: a bench

a bench by aust&amelung Our readers may already be familiar with the German studio aust&amelung, as we have featured their work on Thisispaper before. In this project the furniture designers Miriam Aust and Sebastian Amelung examine the way we interact with objects and look at how new developments change the society. Thanks to their insightful research, they created a simple yet beutiful piece. Note how the simplicity of the bench enables a variety of arrangements. "The undisguised construction of this upholstered bench reveals its aesthetic elements. The seat and the backrest of the bench aregrooved, so that the cushions can be plugged into the construction with the help of a steel pin that is connected to the cushion.The thick, square seat cushions allow themselves to be arranged modularly, each change in their position always offers a new look for the bench."
