Fabrica: Hot & Cold

Hot & Cold by FabricaFabrica is a communication research centre located in a restored 17th-century villa in Treviso, Italy. Their activities range from design and communication to video and media art. This year, Fabrica created a installation at The Salone del Mobile in Milan for the leading air conditioning firm Daikin. The installation is a conceptual presentation of perception of temperature. Through objects inspired by nature and created with use of science, the viewer can observe different displays of hot and cold, not only in the closest environment, but even in the Universe. Fabrica examines phenomena such as the interdependence of smell and temperature, birds’ migration caused by climate change and the poetic contrast of succulent plants and ice. The studio also imagines the sounds of the coolest and hottest planets in the solar system - Venus and Neptune. All of these elements add up to an interactive, multidimensional installation. "We pursue research through making, producing groundbreaking projects in collaboration with the world’s best creative talents. Our desire is to positively impact upon social and cultural change. HOT & COLD is a conceptual representation of temperature, and an experiential journey through a series of multi-sensory artistic and sculptural installations that “give shape” to air, inviting visitors to participate in an immersive laboratory of hot and cold experiences."
