Joël Tettamanti: Where is my Giant

Where is my Giant by Joël Tettamanti Joël Tettamanti is a photographer and graphic designer based in Switzerland. After graduating from Ecole Cantonale d'Art Lausanne (ECAL) Joël began exploring peripheral spaces to capture the beauty behind everyday landscapes and objects, that others would pass without noticing. Some time ago Joël also won our hearts with his portraits of people in the natural landscapes of South Africa. In his 'Where is my Giant' series Tettamanti's photography seems to question the overly familiar 'beautiful' images of Iceland. Joël’s photographs are instead focused on the architecture of Reykjavik and the extension of the city borders and surrounding suburban areas. And through these photographs he unravels a new identity of the Icelandic landscape. "I went to Iceland for the first time in 2008 for *Wallpaper Magazine. I was very excited to go to there, as I was on a long term project linked to the northern countries. But it wasn't easy to do something different. That's why I asked myself; 'Where is that giant friend who always helps me to find my way and produce my images?'" Words: Thisispaper Photography: Joël Tettamanti
