Hello Lovelies!
I have an interesting Asian beauty product to share with you today! Silkworm cocoons (100% silk) which claims to exfoliate dead skin cells and help unclog pores.
Available on Amazon.
Here’s a closer look at the little silk cocoons. They slip onto your fingertips so you can massage all over your face. I found the holes too big for my fingers, so they kept turning which made it a bit tricky to work with.
I’ve tried strange and crazy beauty trends (ex: snail cream), but the “Caution” statement on this product grossed me out. It states “A brown powdery substance may be contained in the product. This is the surface skin of a silkworm that remained during processing.” Ummm… That does not sound appealing at all. Even still, I gave it a go.
I followed the directions to soak in hot water for 2-3 minutes before gently massaging over my washed face. I paid particular attention to the areas around my nose to help with dead skin cells, clogged pores, and blackheads.
While the cocoon softened a bit, it didn’t get as soft and pillowy as I had expected. The cocoon pick up foundation residue that my face wash had missed… but I didn’t notice an improvement in my skin’s texture. It provided a very mild exfoliation. I’d say it was gentler than a facial brush, probably more along the lines of a wash cloth.
