Boomerang Bag

My friend Jordyn is one of the girls behind “boomerang bag“. Boomerang bag is “ an initiative to support a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic bags. In an effort to Rise Above Plastics, Surfrider Foundation has joined forces with Yeskandoo, another not-for-profit organisation, to reduce the use of plastic bags within Burleigh Heads.

A number of bag-share or ‘Boomerang bins’ are being stocked full of re-useable bags and will be placed throughout the shopping district for customers to borrow when they have forgotten their own re-useable bags. The availability of free reuseable bags reduces the reliance of local businesses to supply bags to all customers, and encourages a mentality of re-use among the local community.”

Yesterday morning, boomerang bag hosted a great sewing bee, in which I participated. We had a great time and I got to meet so many wonderful women! For those who want to help, visit boomerang bag Facebook page and keep tuned.
