Wire Ribbon Ornaments #NUO2014

It’s November, you know what that means? It’s time for another NO UGLY ORNAMENT CHALLENGE!

2014 marks the fourth year we’ve been doing this and while I loved having the help of so many great bloggers in the past I decided to bring it all back home and challenge myself to not just make ornaments but to do it on camera!

If you’ll remember (not that I really want you to because some of them are pretty horrible) during the first NUO Challenge I also made videos of the kids and I creating our ornaments. Thankfully my video equipment is much better today and the kids have blossomed into little crafting marvels!
I’m not going to bore you with more chatter, instead I’ll go ahead and get started with the first ornament, a simple wire ribbon!

Supplies Needed
  • Dollar store floral wire
  • jewelry pliers
  • fishing line
Seriously this project is ridiculously easy and looks so awesome when it’s done!

All you’re going to do is cut off a piece of the wire, straighten it out, and then after using the pliers to create a tight loop at the top (or bottom) begin curving it back and forth, creating a look much like Christmas ribbon candies.

If you need to you can use the pliers to tighten up the turns and once you reach the end of the wire create another little loop by curling it back onto itself.

Tie a bit of fishing line through one of the loops and it’s ready for the tree!

I hope you’ll come back by and see what other kinds of crafts we come up with for this year’s tree!
