Stop and Smell the Roses ... or Whatever Flowers are Around

Last year Justin and I tried to build our own garden. We started with seeds and bulbs of plenty and came out with the most impressive and sturdy weeds that have ever been seen ... ever. So this year we decided to buy some "ready-mades," as we like to refer to them, to spruce up the front plot. But really, besides the pretty pictures that's not what this post is about.

I like to think that I'm the type of person who stops to "smell the roses," but in reality, I'm not. Although I enjoy the little things in life, from mint chocolate chip ice cream to puppy cuddles, I don't give myself enough time to stop, take a breath and relax a bit. But lately, I have had to make myself and it's been marvelous and frustrating all at once.

I've made a point to carve out time to enjoy our living room instead of clean it, press the snooze button (because I work from home and I'm the boss and no one is stopping me!), take an afternoon nap and even watch a television show without a computer full of work in front of me.

Enjoy your summer everyone, I know I'm certainly trying my darnedest to.
