Yellow Hair: Dumb Blonde Jokes & Such

Having natural blonde hair is, in fact, a rarity. Did you know that some reports say that only 2% of the world's adults have naturally blonde hair? - and if you knew what my family looked like, you'd agree that I was quite an anomaly. Although redheads get a bad rep too, it seems like the sea full of brown variations are the most respected and seen as the most intellectual of the bunch. And that pains me.
The whole "dumb blonde" conundrum is brought on by those that DYE their hair over and over trying to give themselves the appearance of naturally light locks - the idiots that fry and kill their hair are the ones giving those like me a standard that's about as low and as shallow as you can go.
When people ask me who dyes my hair, what color I use or tell me that me that blondes are "so common," I find myself swallowing down a bout of vomit and needing to get out a chalkboard to give them a lesson on genetics. It may be common to want to be blonde, but it's not common to actually be one, especially passed childhood.
One of my best bud's little dudes referred to my hair as "yellow" a while back, and he's right, in the summer, my hair turns a strange shade of sunny yellow. But that's my head full of hair, untouched by the fumes and chemicals of a dye job, and it doesn't make me any less extraordinary or knowledgeable by having it.
