Let's Talk Shorts...

...It's that time of year for those knees to meet the air again with shorts. Now I had not worn shorts for years until I started on boats and for modesty's sake the mini skirt was out. It has been a love affair ever since. This season I am loving all the short suits that are around, but I have had no luck in finding one for me as the jackets seem to be boxy or double breasted, which don't work for my shape. So I have decided to find shorts that go with the jackets I already have.

Soft and fluid lines in cream have that perfect Daisy Buchanan vibe, for those eternal spring sunshine days. As you can see I am rather excited about the new Great Gatsby movie and the wardrobe alone will be worth a second viewing. I am sure I was not alone in watching sex and the City twice, once for the story and second for the clothes?

Flat fronted shorts are far more flattering and don't give that tummy pouch even when you don't have one. Tailored shapes are also more slimming and for me, I try to find a length that I can sit down in without getting the chair pattern all over my legs. I would also say the shorter the short the flatter the heel, hot pants and stilettos are best left to those legs legged teenagers. A good wedge heel always works and lengthens the leg.

How chic are the two looks above, they work for all occasions just change the accessories and colours to fit. Hey Kate Moss even wore one to a wedding, go for softer fluid fabrics with a heel for night time.
If you are feeling a little pale in the leg department, try one of those tinted moisturisers for the body. I have been using the Dove Summer Glow body lotion for years now, and it is pretty fool proof, just remember to wash your hands afterwards.

Texture mix at Mango.
So for this May bank holiday will you be breaking out the shorts? I need to dig mine out of storage and then the legs are out for the rest of the summer.

I hope your Monday's are going well, it's nice to be back. ax
