DIY Nails: Spring Chevron Mani [Guest Post]

I've always thought that spring is the perfect excuse for a bright and fun manicure. And it's absolutely possible to do it yourself. My friend Liz is a master at DIY manicures! I was so excited when she agreed to share a step-by-step look at one of her recent manicures. Perfect for spring, here's how to recreate her bright chevron mani at home:

Step One: First, I applied a white base coat. For this tutorial, I did two two coats of "I Will" from Loreal Paris.

Step Two: Next, I applied a fast drying top coat from Glisten & Glow.

Step Three: After letting that dry completely, I cut up tape using pinking scissors. You can choose your own size of thickness, depending on the look you're going for. Then, I applied the tape carefully on my finger - right across the middle of your nail works great.

Step Four: I applied two coats of unnamed pink and red from ColorClub. Be careful not to paint over the entire piece of tap with either color!

Step Five: After applying the pink and red, I quickly but carefully, using tweezers peeled off the tape, after letting dry completely to prevent smearing. Finally, I applied the final base coat used in step two... and wala!

This manicure idea is so much easier than I ever thought. Especially using pinking shears to cut your tape. Am I the only one who tried to hand cut chevron stripes into tape before this? A big thank you to Liz for this adorable idea and helpful tutorial! I definitely recommend following her on Instagram if you ever need a little nail inspiration. Would you try this super easy chevron manicure yourself?
