fall at J.Jill // uncomplicated fashion

Every time I go to the mall, I pass the J.Jill store. I’m a creature of habit–I tend to stick to what I know–so I never went in! When I had the opportunity to read a bit more about J.Jill and even hear from the designer of their fall Pure J.Jill line, I knew I wanted to check it out.

I had a baby 3 weeks ago. Tight shirts are not my thing right now. Nursing tops? Often crazy expensive — and I love the idea of some comfortable, yet put together clothes there we timeless and simple. I’m drawn to the staples when purchasing clothes — I like to love them months…if not years later. Yes, I am known to still rock a few dresses I got in highschool. :/ I’m not sure I should have admitted that, but I just did.

Immediately when glancing through the Pure line at J.Jill, I was drawn to this top — from the photo, I could tell that the length would be great and the cut would be loose, yet flattering.

What I didn’t realize, is that this top of made from unicorn hair. I kid. But seriously, it is so soft and comfortable, I wish that had it available in 5 other colors….because I probably would have scooped them on up.

Going into the store to shop, I had my hands full — newborn babe and a loopy 3 year old. (Thankfully Kate was here to help me wrangle them both a bit!) The employees were beyond helpful and kind — interacting with Harlow and her nuttiness as well. When that happens? I am always blown away.

Back to shopping. I really wanted to push myself a little bit and think about multipurpose clothing: could I find something that could double as a nursing cover or top, but be chic and cute. And also wearable and cute whether I was nursing or not!

I found this asymmetrical cable poncho and decided to give it a try — even though it’s not something I’d typically be drawn to to try on. I loved it! It’s super soft — a mix of wool and cashmere — and….

totally doubles as a nursing cover! I’m excited to play around with styles and how to wear it — tied as a scarf, embellished or belted in some way. I’m not an old pro at pulling this look off, but I’m really excited to try! I imagine leggings and rain boots and skinny jeans and flats and well, so many different options and combinations.

And the biggest thing is that both pieces are comfortable and wearable with so many pieces in my closet already. As I read through what the J.Jill brand is about, they used the phrase “uncomplicated fashion,” and that really stuck with me! When you go into their store or look online, they have a streamlined look, allowing you to mix and match almost everything in the store with success. They also strive to cross seasons with this unity, so that one can build a wardrobe piece by piece — without breaking the bank. Looking to build a capsule wardrobe? (I’m still totally intrigued by this concept….and I might do it! With either Harlow, Jones or myself!) I think J.Jill would be the perfect place to grab some of those staple pieces. This blue top would most definitely be a capsule piece for me.

“because our design aesthetic is so clean, the volume and the way a piece drapes on the body becomes

very important. All the shapes we offer in the line give the customer the freedom to dress to her body. to

really customize her pure jill wardrobe to meet the demands of her day and be comfortable and move

with ease throughout.”

The above quote is from Barbara Patin, the design of the Pure line at J.Jill. After looking through the store and browsing online, I truly believe they are achieving her goal on dressing a woman’s shape in the way they desire to.

I hope you feel inspired to step into a store you may have walked by with a glance in the past! I truly enjoyed the challenge of stepping outside of my typical staples to try – and love! – something new!

Happy Thursday! It is supposed to rain today, so I will be most likely sporting this ensemble with some leggings and rain boots today — Kate is here helping me out with this two-kid-dance that I’m learning, and I am trying my best to show her all the amazing things food that Pittsburgh has to offer. I mean c’mon — to try the best of Pittsburgh food is to experience Pittsburgh, right? Thankfully the sun came out and the city of Pittsburgh view from the tunnel on the way back from the airport was glorious! Today I think there might be some Pamela’s in our future along with Peace, Love and little Donuts….and most definitely yes: The Milkshake Factory. Snapper Shake? Yes.

I was provided with credit to shop at J.Jill for this sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions and desire to have 10 of this shirt in various colors…all my own. :)
